Like many bakeries, our story starts in the kitchen…a small kitchen. In 2020, Kate, the founder of Bread Drop, was working as an ICU nurse serving on the front lines of the pandemic. Experiencing this challenge firsthand made her realize the importance of finding moments of joy and comfort during difficult times. It was then that baking sourdough bread became her personal outlet to reduce stress and explore her creativity. Kate frequently shared her passion for the science behind sourdough with friends, family, and neighbors. However, it became clear that her final product was far more enjoyable than the creation process for others.
Inspired by the rave reviews and requests for more, Kate decided to turn her kitchen into a microbakery, allowing her to share her passion with the greater St. Louis community. Today, Bread Drop offers a wide range of carefully crafted flavor profiles ranging from savory, spicy, earthy, and sweet that can be enjoyed far beyond the standard sandwich. Not only is Kate's bread delicious, but it offers health benefits by providing an excellent source of fiber, antioxidants, and better stabilization of blood sugar levels.
At Bread Drop, our mission is not only to bring joy to others through delicious homemade bread but also to promote healthy eating and a sustainable lifestyle.
When Kate is not leading operations at Bread Drop, you can find her trading in her apron for scrubs and caring for sick patients as a nurse, or on a long walk with her husband and fur baby, Mo, through St. Louis' Forest Park.
